BRIAN’S BIOGRAPHY / RACING RESUME

Thousand Oaks’ own Brian Jones is a top contender in the WHELEN / AUTO CLUB LATE MODEL DIVISION, which races at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, and other local tracks.

Driving the black #81 LUCKY DEVIL RACING Chevrolet SS Impala is Brian’s passion. As with so many racecar drivers, racing has always been a part of Brian’s life.

Brian’s aggressive driving style and great personality, have contributed to the large fan base he has developed over the years.

2003
Brian started his racing career in 2003, winning ROOKIE OF THE YEAR honors in the Street Stock division at ORANGE SHOW SPEEDWAY, with 2 wins, 14 top 10 finishes, finishing 3rd in points overall.  Brian finished 10th in the Shifter Cart Endurance race at PERRIS RACEWAY, and set a record at the WIDE OPEN RACE PARK in Mexico in a Class 14 Buggy.

2004
In 2004 Brian made the move to the NASCAR AUTO CLUB LATE MODEL DIVISION at IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY, finishing 26th in points overall, competing in 13 of 16 scheduled races. Brian also competed in a couple of “ELITE” races at other tracks, finishing 16th in the October Classic at MESA MARIN SPEEDWAY, and 5th place at the BULLRING RACEWAY in Las Vegas.

2005
2005 proved to be a breakout year for Brian Jones and the entire LUCKY DEVIL RACING TEAM.  In only his second season in the NASCAR AUTO CLUB LATE MODEL division, Brian had 9 top 10 finishes, 6 top 5 finishes, as well as 2 pole positions.  These impressive stats resulted in an 11th place points finish, and he received IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY’s award for MOST IMPROVED DRIVER in the NASCAR AUTO CLUB LATE MODEL division.

2006
2006 started out in the wrong direction. With the ultimate replacement of the front clip, most of the issues were resolved. Brian and the LUCKY DEVIL RACING TEAM headed in the right direction. One of the more painful memories was Brian leading the 100 lap open when with just one lap remaining, the rear end blew. Highlights included 2 Hard Charger awards, 2 Heat Race Wins, 1 Trophy Dash Win, and the Fall Classic in Las Vegas, where Brian finished 4th after restarting from the back of the pack.

2007
2007 was a season where Brian and the LUCKY DEVIL RACING TEAM struggled through some handling issues early on, but they overcame them. 2007 also saw Brian piloting a Super Late Model in the NASCAR TOYOTA ALL-STAR SHOWDOWN Super Late Model 150, where he was surely a top ten contender until he was taken out of competition by another driver. Brian finished the Auto Club Late Model series, 9th in points, and then closed out his Irwindale run with a 4th place finish in the Hoosier Tires 100.
